I'll Be Watching You

So sings the group 'The Police'. But doesn't 'god' say the same thing? Maybe this isn't a 'love song' to a former partner (
I've always thought of it as 'The Stalker Song'), but a 'praise' song to 'god'. The all knowing, all powerful, the omnipresent 'god' of the Abrahamic religions? The bible 'god' goes even further than just watching though. This god is so omniscient it knows what you're thinking, and knows what you're going to think, and do, before even you know. Abraham's god has planned all that for you before you were even born (or not before you were born according to some, so this conflicted story goes, anyway). He knows if you are sleeping, he knows if you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good... oh wait, a different character. Same applies to the 'benevolent' Abrahamic god though. But, he loves you, right?

Do you love your partner? How about your children, or your parents? Could you create a burning torture chamber, and lock them away in it? The 'loving god' who wants you to love 'him' above all else would; and he knows if you wouldn't do the same for him. Do you tell your children they're sinful and broken? Do you eat shellfish or pork or any other 'forbidden' food? Do you eat when you're supposed to fast?  He's watching you. Do you love someone of a different 'tribe', or skin tone or eye color? Do you love someone of the same gender as yourself? That's not allowed either, and he knowsDo you self-pleasure? Do you eliminate waste from your body? God is watching you. Have you ever looked at someone with 'lust' ('what a great ass', or 'lookin good', kinda thing)? Have you ever thought about sex or thought about having sex without your partner? God knows what you're thinking, and is pained by your daydreams. Do you change clothes? Do you bathe? Do you primp a bit in the mirror? God knows, and he's watching you.

You belong to me. Every breath you take, every move you make, every word you say, every thought you think, every single day,.. I'll be watching you. So says 'god', and abusers everywhere.

Does this character deserve your worship? Why would you do that?

This story is fiction. There is no such 'god'.
